Beloved Summit

Labor Day weekend (August 30-31, 2014) for CFC Florida was truly a weekend devoted to the celebration of labor, especially to the labor of God’s Love through all of the CFC ministries. On Saturday, new and old members of the CFC ministries from all over Florida gathered at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL for their “Beloved Summit” State Assembly. The “Beloved Summit” was the first time that all Florida CFC ministries came together since a state conference that was held about 10 years ago.

The day started with the rosary and festivities were officially opened with worship. All were then welcomed by Florida Area/Cluster Head, Orly Fajardo, and CFCUSA National Director, Eric Villanueva (CA). A history lesson about CFC Florida’s early stages and mission areas was given by CFC Leader and Region Head of the Caribbean Islands, Joe Duran. After welcoming ceremonies, each ministry held their own activity throughout Nativity’s campus.

Mission Trip to Antigua, Caribbean

Going on a mission is a spiritual journey, we were empowered as we learned about how much we could give of ourselves - our means of comfort, time, resources and to leave our loved ones behind to further the work of God. We were fascinated to learn from the locals - their culture, simple living and hunger to deepen their faith. To have our HOLD Sis. Velda eagerly participate despite of discomforts resulting from her 3rd stroke was quite moving. The support of our HOLDs with the leadership of Sis. Cecilia Gomes was very impressive from set-up/cleaning up of the place and serving of sumptuous meals. The assistance of our couple members to make our stay as comfortable as can be deeply touched our hearts.
